Hormilla

Almost 90% of the municipality of Hormilla is covered by fields, the most common crops being wheat, potatoes, barley, sugarbeet and vines. The industrial sector consists of small metal and mechanical workshops, although there are also a few commercial wineries.

Near the village, along the N-120 road, the pharmacist Antonio Bartolomé created the first botanical garden in La Rioja: it covers 20.000 m² and contains more than 400 species from all over the world.

The garden is arranged in zones that hold a variety of species for exhibit to the public: aromatic and culinary plants, bushes, cacti, water species, vines from all over the world, local plants and trees from different countries.
