Murillo de Río Leza

Murillo de Río Leza stands at the confluence of the Leza and Jubera rivers. The main municipality in the Jubera valley, a place to be discovered and exploited in La Rioja thanks to its great variety of landscapes.

Close to Logroño, less than 18 km away-, it combines rural tranquillity and the opportunities provided by urban life (it is part of the metropolitan bus network of Logroño).

Apart from the landscape, it has emblematic buildings and, above all, is well equipped in terms of quality traditions and celebrations. Its festivities, processions and other events are well-known.

In relation to Rioja wine, two milestones:

1. It is home to the first cooperative winery in La Rioja, founded in 1953: Bodega Cooperativa San Esteban Protomártir.

2. The first white Tempranillo grape was grown here in 1988, as a natural mutation from the red variety.
