The Rioja Wine Terrace concludes its summer tour around the UK

For the past five years, the Rioja Wine Terrace has travelled to events around the UK, bringing with it a glimmer of the Spanish sunshine. With delicious wines, Rioja experts on hand to educate consumers and some hand-carved Teruel jamón to pair with the wines, the Terrace was enjoyed by Rioja lovers old and new.

Taste of Dublin

First up on our Rioja summer tour was Taste of Dublin, a highlight of the Irish foodie calendar, where attendees were hungry to try delicious food and wine, discovering new things and rediscovering old favourites. Set in the pretty Iveagh Gardens south of the River Liffey, the festival was host to a variety of food and drink vendors, Irish and international alike, set against a background of live music.

Visitors to the Rioja bar had the pick of a huge variety of wines; crisp and fruity whites and rosados and a whole range of reds including Crianzas, Reservas and Gran Reservas. Masterclasses were given by wine expert Kevin Ecock and were all oversubscribed! Jamón experts Bar Tozino were also on hand providing a selection of Spanish tapas such as chorizo al vino and patatas bravas – welcome warmth when the Irish rain set in!

The Rioja Wine Terrace visits Cornwall

The second stop of our UK tour was down in sunny Cornwall, where the Rioja Wine Terrace headed to Port Eliot Festival. Situated on the emerald banks of the sparkling River Tiddy, the Terrace was host to friends and families all enjoying glasses of Rioja from the bar whilst surrounded by food, music and merriment. Wine expert Raul Diaz, former presenter of Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch, hosted masterclasses throughout the weekend, highlighting an array of different Riojas from aged reds to light-bodied whites and rosados. Bar Tozino were also on hand, providing tasty samples of aged jamón which brought a selection of delicious food to the Terrace.

Into the Wilderness…

From the green fields of Port Eliot, the Rioja Wine Terrace then headed into the Wilderness of the Oxfordshire countryside. A haven of food, drink, music and culture, Wilderness festival offers a dizzying array of food and drink options. The Rioja Terrace is a firmly-established favourite, with guests returning for the masterclasses and the excellent line-up of wines year after year. Visitors eagerly took the opportunity to raise a toast with Rioja wine, jamón, manchego cheese and olives, whilst learning about the different wine styles during masterclasses hosted by Raul Diaz. Whilst the terrace was visited by many a seasoned Rioja-lover, it also drew in some new faces who were delighted to discover that Rioja wine comes in white and rosé styles too –popular choices in the summer sun!

The Rioja Wine Terrace also welcomed a broad selection of social media personalities, including @LondonontheInside, @MillyKR, @AliceTate, @OneHungryAsian and @TruffleandToast, all of whom came to kick back and relax with a glass of Rioja wine in hand.

We hope you enjoyed the summer of Rioja as much as we did and stay tuned to find out where we’re headed next year!
