Rioja Wine Terrace at Taste of Dublin, 2019
The Rioja Wine Terrace made an appearance at Taste of Dublin food festival in June this year, transporting Irish consumers to Rioja with tasty red wines, refreshing whites and rosados and a menu of authentic Spanish tapas.
Set in Iveagh Gardens, a pretty green space south of the River Liffey, the festival was jam-packed with a wide variety of food and drink vendors, Irish and international alike, enlivened by a series of bands who played throughout the four days and evenings.
At the Rioja Wine Terrace, consumers had the pick of a vast array of wines. Rich, buttery whites sat alongside crisp and fruity rosados, not forgetting an extensive range of reds: this encompassed young, fragrant wines, wonderful Crianzas, Reservas and more complex Gran Reservas that were really enjoyed by the visitors.
Visitors to the stand had the opportunity to learn about the different wine styles and the Rioja region in general from masterclasses given by wine expert Kevin Ecock. The classes covered the quality and diversity of the wine region, the ageing classifications of the wine and an introduction to pairing food with Rioja – these proved very popular, with almost every class oversubscribed!
Adding to the immersive Spanish experience of the Rioja Terrace was Bar Tozino, a tapas bar based in Bermondsey, London, who served up an authentic selection of jamón, manchego, patatas bravas and chorizo al vino alongside the Rioja wine.
Irish bloggers and influencers also paid visits to the stand, sampling the wines and tapas, learning about the region, and speaking about what they’d learned on Rioja Wine TV.
Rioja branded items went down a treat with consumers, with blankets and sunglasses complementing the changeable weather and providing a laugh despite the rain showers!
