Rioja sessions head to Dublin

Our 2019 activity hasn’t stopped over the past few months, and on 19th November we headed to Dublin to present masterclasses on Rioja to the Irish wine trade.

The day consisted of two sessions hosted by John Wilson of The Irish Times who presented a selection of Rioja wines currently available on the Irish market. The classes each explored 10 different wines, encompassing the region’s classic reds across the ageing spectrum as well as oaked and unoaked whites and rosados.

The masterclasses took place at The Dean Hotel in Dublin city centre and were both fully-booked, attended by a selection of press, importers, buyers and restaurateurs. The guests enjoyed the opportunity to delve deeper into the wines of the Rioja region, speaking highly of the wide variety of wines explored, which illustrated a broad scope of styles.

The day also involved a free-pour tasting of eight Rioja producers who are seeking Irish distribution. Ireland is one of Rioja’s top 10 export markets and looks set to grow in the near future, with consumers increasingly interested in whites and rosados alongside the better-known red Riojas.

If you’re based in Ireland, keep an eye out for more Rioja activity set to head your way in 2020!
