Drink Rioja? Yes Please!

The month sees the Drink Rioja campaign hit restaurants, bars and retailers throughout October to celebrate the UK’s favourite Spanish wine region. Our participants are going all out to make Drink Rioja an incredible, month-long, nationwide celebration, with events including drop-in wine tastings, giveaways and parties! So, find your closest Drink Rioja retailer or bar and join in the fun this October.

Drink Rioja bars and restaurants:

For London-based Rioja lovers, New Street Wine is holding a walk-in tasting and a guided flight of five wines to get your Rioja journey started on 7th October. Feeling hungry? Then head right next door to New Street Grill where the team is cooking up a lunch offer with a specially paired glass of Rioja.

Join legendary London Spanish eatery, Camino, where all four sites (King’s Cross, Monument, Bankside and Shoreditch) will be dedicating a whole day to a different style of Rioja and will match a traditional tapita to the wine style of the day. To round off the month, Camino Bankside will be hosting a Rioja party on 30th October with traditional guitars, tasty tapas and discounted glasses of Rioja. Camino is welcoming everyone to join the fun – no ticket necessary.

For wine aficionados based in the South West, Bar 44 is holding a multitude of different activities across its Bristol and Wales venues. Test your Rioja knowledge with a blind tasting where winners get a discount if they correctly guess which Rioja they are drinking! Or join Bristol native and The Guardian’s wine writer Fiona Beckett, for a 6-course Rioja dinner, where the team has come up with an autumnal menu to let the wines shine. Drink Rioja will also see the launch of the 44 Asador Social Club where from 5pm – 6.30pm Monday to Thursday, the doors will be open to all those wine lovers out there, with Rioja as the feature drink.

If you happen to be in Edinburgh, head over to our friends at Bon Vivant. Check out their ‘bite flight’ where they will take you through three wines which highlight the diversity of the region. Or for a cosy night in, Bon Vivant has partnered with Drinkly who will deliver a bottle of Rioja straight to your door with food pairing suggestions.

Drink Rioja Retailers:

Cardiff retailer Fine Wines Direct is holding a Rioja masterclass on 17th October, hosted by Welsh wine columnist and educator Neil Cammies who will take you through the different styles of Rioja wines. Buy tickets here.

There’s no mischief at Loki in Birmingham who is running, not one, but two Drink Rioja tastings in October! Additionally, a selection of Rioja wines will be in its resident enomatic machines, so you can try the whole range throughout the month. Buy tickets here.

Experience an evening to remember at the Wolseley Wine Loft who will be transporting you to Rioja on 10th October and welcoming Rube Quintana from Bodegas Manzanos to create a ‘Virtual Night in Rioja’. Buy tickets here.

… and that’s just the beginning!
