Last weekend in Berlin, Rioja presented its 100 ‘best wines’ according to the prestigious publication, Meininger.
To this end, as part of Rioja’s promotional campaign in the German market, and after its success in Munich last month, the oldest Denomination of Origin in Spain marched into the German capital in style with a spectacular Wine Bar inside “Heeresbäckerei”, an old industrial loft. There, the great diversity offered by Rioja was put on display and the Germans had the opportunity to learn more about its varieties, categories, winemaking and enotourism.
Over two days, this major event welcomed over 600 attendees and 80 professionals who stopped by to learn more at first hand about the region and the great diversity of wines it offers, as well as tasting and enjoying them.
There was no shortage of music, tapas and unique experiences such as Rioja – Poker, a space that offered the opportunity to learn while playing and to discuss the different types of wine with the help of an expert. Furthermore, there was a blind tasting to entertain and educate visitors and provide them with more knowledge on the grape varieties and typical categories of Rioja wines.
During the conference, the experts had the opportunity to learn everything about the wines that were present, as well as the latest Rioja developments through a series of talks, tastings and seminars.
The wines offered at both events were chosen by a panel of experts from the prestigious Meininger publishing house in a selection made earlier this year from a blind tasting of 300 wines and published in four of the group’s specialist publications: “Meiningers Sommelier”, “Weinwirtschaft”, “Weinwelt” and “Meiningers Business International”.
