The Control Board has awarded the official rating of “EXCELLENT” to an eagerly awaited 2019 harvest that will undoubtedly go down in history as one of the great Rioja vintages. The proper sanitary and vegetative evolution of the vineyards throughout the campaign, with loose and well-aerated bunches, as well as the plants’ moderate robustness, facilitated the production of excellent quality grapes. This “EXCELLENT” rating represents the conclusion of a thorough and transparent classification procedure consisting of the analysis and tasting of all the wines that will be released on the market. The evaluation began in the fermentation tanks, where the Board’s technical experts collected more than 4,500 samples that were subsequently tasted by a panel of 150 professionals. A total of 267.27 million litres from the 2019 harvest have obtained the right to certification as wines under the DOCa Rioja (22.11 million litres of white, 12.50 million litres of rosé and 233.08 million litres of red).
