BODEGAS ALVIA

BODEGAS ALVIA

Bodegas Alvia, located in Rioja Alta on the pilgrim road to Santiago de Compostela, makes two different ranges of wine. Livius line, single varietal wines made from centenary vineyards, harvested by hand and aged in new French, American and Hungarian oak barrels; and Mileto line composed of Classic Rioja wines: white, young, crianza, reserva and limited edition.

This winery is a proyect created to rescue old Rioja vineyards and make high quality  Author Wines. We agreed with winegrowers not uprooting the centenary vineyards that were going to be replaced for younger ones. This way, we have managed to maintain from 80 to 103 year old vines. This is an inestimable value resource and we can have a complete control of vinegrowing and harvest.

ARTISAN SINGLE VARIETAL WINES

The small bunches are hand harvested early in the morning and late in the afternoon in 15 Kg plastic boxes. Once at the winery we select the best clusters on the sorting table. This first step of moving and selecting is very important. After first and second fermentation, wine goes directly to the oak barrels. We mainly work with French oak (65%), and with American and Eastern European too. The high quality of the fruit and the skillfully selection of the barrels transform the wine into an excellent  wine, full of nuances which surprises the consumer gratefully.

We make wines from native varieties, single varietal for Livius range (except from White which needs some Malvasía to highligh its aromas)

Livius Tempranillo 100%

Livius Garnacha 100%

Livius Graciano 100%

Livius Rose Fermented in cask 100% Garnacha

Livius White Fermented in cask     70% Viura 30% Malvasía
