The new edition of the "Visitors' Guide to the Bodegas of Rioja", a type of publication which the Control Board of the DOCa Rioja pioneered a decade ago and which has been in great demand ever since, presents as its main new feature a considerable increase in the number of bodegas listed and updated tourist information to complement each suggested route. This small pocket-size, 100-page colour book, illustrated with maps and photographs brings together all the relevant information on the many options offered by the bodegas in the wine region for visitors who would like to discover and see the bodegas for themselves. As the title of the book suggests, the aim of the Board is for this guide to serve as a useful tool for travellers, helping them to identify and get to know the characteristics of those bodegas which welcome visitors. In this new edition of the Guide, there are 178 Rioja bodegas listed, 38 more than the previous edition (there are currently over 470 commercial bodegas in the DO, whose addresses can be found on the Control Board's website at www.riojawine.com).
The information about the bodegas provided by the Guide includes some suggestions for tourists for each of the seven routes where the bodegas are grouped, exclusively according to their location. In the international style of the best guides, a set of symbols has been used, whose key appears in a fold-out section on the inside back cover, so that it is visible when the Guide is consulted and allows it to be used in four languages: Spanish, English, German and French.
